We propose this ascent over 3 days
Departing from the village of La Grave, we will take the cable car to gain a little altitude, then we will reach the Promontoire refuge via the Enfechores route and the Brèche de la Meije. Without being technically difficult, this first day is an excellent warm-up.
The next day, we will climb the Pic de la Meije starting directly behind the refuge: one step on the terrace and we're off! The famous passages of Crapaud, Couloir Duhamel, Pas du chat and then Cheval rouge await us to exit at the Pic de la Meije (3983m). Then comes the long ride on the ridges of the Meije which gives this ascent its full scope. Arriving at the Eagle hut is always a great moment.
After a well-deserved rest, the third day will be occupied by the long descent from the Aigle hut and the return to the valley.
